I was craving some spicy papaya salad so my husband and I decided to give this place a try since our hotel was nearby. I was shocked to find cucumber salad on the menu as well. Of all the Thai/Lao restaurants I've been to this is the first time seeing it on a menu. You can get it Lao Style too!
We ordered pad kra pao, larb chicken & cucumber salad. Everything was good. Jasmine rice did not come with pad kra pao. You have to order it separate for $2.50
And great service by a young lady who took care of all the tables by herself. -

Tried to call ahead to order takeout the other day and the phone line was busy. Probably called about 5 times to try to get through and was still busy 10 min later. I think they took the phone off the hook.
So finally decide to just walk in and order. They told me it would take about 15 min for my food to be ready and to wait outside. WRONG. Food literally took 50 minutes. Nobody came to apologize or give me an update on why it was taking so long. Restaurant wasn't full for dine-in so don't know what the issue was.
Sad because this is my usual Thai place for takeout and I like the food here. But this was not acceptable. Might try a new place because of this experience. -

I stopped in with my friend the other day and we genuinely enjoyed our experience! Not only was the food delicious but the service was super friendly as well.

The interior is very clean and the decor really adds to the authenticity of the place.
[FOOD]
The summer rolls and noodle dish (pad see yew) were insanely tasty. I didn't expect the summer rolls to be as fresh as they were. Plus, they didn't skimp our on the shrimp! The portions over all were generous in my opinion and the prices fair. The pad see yew hit the right balance of sweet and savory. I'd definitely get it again. I ordered mine with chicken. Fair warning: both the summer rolls -- or at least the sauce that came alongside it -- as well as the pad see yew were garnished with chopped peanuts.
[SERVICE]
The two employees on shift when I went we're exceptionally nice, accommodating and cheery. I felt appreciative for the waitress that continuously checked in on my friend and I. Best service on the island I've had so far! -

After a great experience at their Pearl City sister location, I was a bit disappointed with my dinner at the Thai Lao in the McCully Shopping Center. Although the service was great, the quality of the food was not at the standard that we hoped for.
Food: One ingredient that seemed to be their highlight - salt. We got the panang curry, papaya salad and spring rolls. Basically ordering the same thing, we noticed the food did not taste the same. The curry was much too salty and even with the sticky rice, it was very difficult to consume it all. This was really disappointing because I was looking forward to the amazing panang curry I had first ordered at the other location. The spring rolls were also salty AND they looked unevenly fried. Some even looked burnt at the edges, however I will admit the sauce for the rolls was very tasty. The papaya salad was mediocre, nothing too special and could afford to have a bit more ingredients added. Unfortunately I'd have to say the mediocre papaya salad was the highlight of our meal.
Service/ambience: very casual! We went on a Friday evening around 7 and the restaurant was quite empty. The food came out immediately and the waitresses were really nice. Admittedly, we did complain about the saltiness of the curry and she was very courteous about the negative feedback, but since we were so hungry, we just decided to eat it without requesting for a new one.
Parking: you can park in the lot in front of the restaurant or there is a garage below the main building! I believe parking is free in the garage as well.
Overall, if you're really craving Thai, I would highly recommend the Pearl City location. Maybe my expectations were too high after my initial visit at the Pearl City location, but this Thai Lao fell a little short. -

Did a phone order, they said it would take 15 minutes, got there within 20 mins, paid, and they weren't done with it. I only ordered Tofu Pad Thai. Next thing you know, it has been 30 minutes. Mind you, I'm on my dinner break and needed return to work. Went back in the restuarant (theybtold us to wait outside) to follow up and I asked, "How much longer for the order?"
The older lady in yellow says "Your order is just after this one".
To which I replied, "so how much longer is that??"
"After this order."
Lady, give me a time! You're already taking long in the first place. Younger lady with glasses went ahead to check with the kitchen and let's us know that they just started to cook it.
FINALLY, after 45 minutes, my single order of PAD THAI was finished. Horrible. Even eat-in guests were waiting forever. If you know that your business is taking awhile to get food out, then let customers know the true wait time. Dont give me a bullsh*t wait time.
Got back to work, barely enough time to eat, and my fricken food is burnt. Pad thai is NOT supposed to look so damn dark and have burnt food particles all over the damn dish. I DO NOT HAVE TIME to go back to return this horribly prepared food. What are you guys doing, seriously? Service for some reason is much better on other nights. Tonight was just horrible and frankly, I dont know if I want to return.
